The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has extended
* Flood Warning for...
An Ice Jam in...
Central Morgan County in southeastern Ohio...
* Until 1115 AM EST Wednesday
* At 442 AM EST, an ice jam continue to effect the Muskingum River,
between McConnelsville and Stockport. Last evening, emergency
management reported minor flooding along Sycamore Lane, Hanwood
Drive, and Cottonwood Drive. Ice jam flooding can lead to quick
changes in water levels as jams form and break up. Those in the
flood warning area should closely monitor river conditions, and be
prepared to take action if flood waters encroach. Stay away from
river banks due to the unpredictable nature of ice jam flooding.
In addition, do not drive through flooded roadways. Be especially
cautious if traveling early this morning on roads along the
Muskingum River, as water covered roadways can be difficult to
detect when it is dark out.
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
