The National Weather Service in Missoula has issued an Airport
Weather Warning for...

Missoula International Airport /MSO/

for the following threats...

Snow of light to moderate intensity for several hours.

Light snow will continue today, but brief breaks are expected
though early afternoon. Periods of moderate to even heavy snow
are expected during this afternoon. Snow will become very wet and
is likely to mix with or change to rain during the late afternoon
and evening. Gusty west winds and a change back to snow is likely
around 6-8pm with light to moderate snow showers for the
overnight. East winds, dropping temperatures, and blowing snow
will develop during Sunday morning.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Snow occurring. Initial snow accumulations of 6 to 10
inches, including over Lolo Pass and Lost Trail Pass. Then,
this afternoon through Sunday, heavy snow and blowing snow is
expected. Travel will become difficult due to slick roads and
low visibility. Additional snow accumulations of 8 to 14
inches, localized amounts up to 18 inches for Lolo Pass, are
possible.

* WHERE...Bitterroot/Sapphire Mountains.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 11 AM this morning
to 5 PM MST Sunday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions.
Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will cause areas of blowing
and drifting snow.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Snow occurring mainly from Stevensville through
Missoula. Then, heavy snow and blowing snow expected this
afternoon into Sunday. Snow will change to rain in the
Bitterroot Valley and briefly in the Missoula Valley into this
evening. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches from
Stevensville north to Missoula with isolated amounts of 12
inches. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches are possible
from Stevensville south. Gusty west winds develop by this
evening and gusty east winds during Sunday morning, which will
cause period of blowing and drifting snow and poor visibility.
A freeze-up of roadways Saturday evening through Sunday
morning will create very icy conditions.

* WHERE...Missoula/Bitterroot Valleys.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 11 AM this morning
to 5 PM MST Sunday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very difficult to
impossible. Tree branches could fall. Winds gusting 30 to 40
mph will cause widespread blowing and drifting snow and very
icy conditions. Wind chills of 10 below zero could cause
frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes during
Sunday. Be prepared for reduced visibilities at times.

* WHAT...Snow occurring. Snow is expected to intensify this
afternoon. Total snow accumulations of 9 to 12 inches, with up
to 2 feet possible over Lookout Pass, are expected. Gusty west
winds will begin this afternoon with east winds early Sunday,
which will cause periods of blowing and drifting snow and poor
visibility. A flash freeze of roadways this evening through
Sunday morning will create very icy conditions. Travel may
become hazardous.

* WHERE...Evaro Hill, Highway 200 Thompson Falls to Plains,
Highway 200 Trout Creek to Heron, and I-90 Lookout Pass to
Haugan.

* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 11 AM this morning
to 5 PM MST Sunday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very difficult to
impossible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will cause areas
of blowing and drifting snow. Be prepared for reduced
visibilities at times.
